How to edit a PDF for free (add text, images and corrections)

PDFs are designed to look the same everywhere — which also makes them hard to change. Here is how to make the most common edits in a minute.

Add text or an image

  1. Open Edit PDF and select your file.
  2. Choose Text, click on the page and type. Adjust the size and color in the toolbar.
  3. Choose Image to insert a logo, a stamp or a photo, then drag and resize it.
  4. Click Save PDF.

Correct an existing word

Text inside a PDF cannot always be edited directly. The simplest method is to place a white-out box over the wrong word, then type the correct text on top. The result looks like a clean correction once printed or viewed.

Highlight important passages

The Highlight tool adds a transparent yellow marker, perfect for pointing out a clause in a contract or a total on an invoice.

When should you convert to Word instead?

If you need to rewrite whole paragraphs, it is faster to convert the document with PDF to Word, edit it freely and save it back as PDF.

Forms with fields

Official forms often contain fillable fields. Fill PDF form shows them directly on the page so you can type your answers in the right boxes.
