Is an electronic signature legally valid?
A simple electronic signature like this one is accepted for a large number of everyday documents: leases, quotes, school forms, internal agreements. In many countries (for example under the European eIDAS regulation or Canadian and US e-signature laws), it has legal value as long as the parties agree to sign electronically.
Some documents require a qualified or certified signature — typically notarial deeds or certain public procurement documents. When in doubt, ask the recipient which type they accept.
Tips for a neat signature
- On a phone or tablet, drawing with your finger gives the most natural result.
- Choose blue ink: it shows at a glance that the document was signed and is not a photocopy.
- To import a paper signature, sign on white paper, take a well-lit photo and crop it closely.
Forms and protection
If the document contains fields to fill in, complete them first with Fill PDF form. Once signed, you can add a password with Protect PDF before sending it by email.
Is it safe?
Your document and your signature never leave your device: everything is done in your browser. Helpdf keeps no copy of your signature.
