How to convert Excel to PDF (clean tables, no cut-off columns)

Quotes, budgets, schedules, price lists: sending a spreadsheet as PDF guarantees that everyone sees the same numbers, in the same layout, without accidentally changing a formula.

Convert a spreadsheet in three steps

  1. Open Excel to PDF.
  2. Select your file: XLSX, XLS, ODS and CSV are supported.
  3. Click Convert to PDF and download the result.

Each sheet of the workbook becomes a section of the PDF, with a clear table, a highlighted header row and alternating row colors for easy reading. Wide sheets automatically switch to landscape.

Avoid columns cut across pages

  • Delete or hide empty columns on the right of your data: they widen the table for nothing.
  • Shorten long headers (“Amount excl. tax” instead of “Total amount excluding taxes for the period”).
  • Split very wide sheets into two sheets (for example Q1–Q2 and Q3–Q4).

Only the values are exported

The PDF shows the results of your formulas, exactly as they are displayed in Excel, including number and date formats. Your formulas themselves are not visible in the PDF — useful when you share a quote without revealing how it is calculated.

Several sheets or only one?

All non-empty sheets are exported in order. If you only need one, delete the others in a copy of your file first, or remove the unwanted pages from the PDF with Remove pages.

Protect or combine the result

  • Add a password before emailing a budget: Protect PDF.
  • Attach the table to a report or a quote: Merge PDF.
  • Need the data back in a spreadsheet later? PDF to Excel extracts tables from PDFs.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. In Google Sheets choose File → Download → Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), then convert the file.

Are charts exported?

The conversion focuses on tables of data. To include a chart, export it from Excel as an image and add it with JPG to PDF.

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser; your financial data never leaves your device.
